    • Q:

I had taken my kid to this park with his rc car he has ? And to my surprise I was asked for $10 to so he can drive his car there. Has anyone else have to do this at a public park? Why would you have to pay a public park $10 never have I heard this.

      A:

The RC Track is the property of the District, but it is managed by a Contract Operator who pays to maintain it. The Contract Operator needs to provide the District with a Fee Schedule and with our approval it could be allowed for the operator to… more

I attended a fundraiser and workshop at this venue in Camarillo. This location was a great middle way from folks in the Hawaiian and Polynesian communities up north, from Santa Barbara as far south, from San Diego.

Plenty of parking and a nice stage and seating inside as well as a canteen area for eating or more socializing. The canteen area has a room length bar with a mirror behind it that was so retro looking and perfect for concessions. Perfect venue for the needs of the activities.

The bathrooms were very dated and just looked a bit run down but were functioning so couldn't complain too much but it could use a facelift.

Would highly recommend this venue in Camarillo.

Located off the 101 freeway off the Los Posas exit and Pleasant Valley rd in the agriculture back roads of Camarillo right next to the starwberry fields and in front of the airport sits Freedom park. Home to many forms of outdoor entertainment that caters to sport enthusiasts, pilots and animal lovers allowing them to unite.

The park has a little airport, softball/baseball/soccer fields, picnic areas, playgrounds, horse shoe pits, BMX track, sky diving, RC car track, animal control center where they hold pet adoptions, air museum ect. Dress, not in your best, because its dusty out here. It also gets cold, especially in the Winter so dress in layers. And bring a flashlight, in case your here when the sun goes down, because it gets dark, like really really dark. Its just you and the stars.

Since its in such a remote area, you will be roughing it. On site is a sanitation drainage area. The stench can be powerful, buuuuuuut, it does go away, eventually. If you hold your breath.

The bathrooms are three steps above porta potties and lite with natural lighting, AKA a roofless ceiling. They are not the best bathrooms, but they are stocked with toliet paper, soap and a hand dryer. And silver bowls do flush.

The area is pet friendly, with plenty of doggy bags to scoop your poop up with. Since animal control is adjacent its important to keep your fur baby on a leash at all times. Look for the signs where pets are not allowed. Like on the baseball fields.

Food wise, there is a cafe somewhere, near the airport but I've never seen it. Otherwise you have to drive back up to the 101 freeway to fill your belly.

I like this park and my 4 legged buddy loves it too.

The Park Rangers were super nice and friendly. Patrols during the night, they have limited RV parking if you pay $30 a night via the Parks Department.
No hookups or RV SaniDump. I couldn't find one in all of Camarillo.
In addition, no water spigot to put water in your fresh water tank. It would be nice if Parks Department was clear about these two issues as they do mail an information sheet. The address is 515 Eubanks not the Parks Department address.

Well groomed baseball diamonds, picnic tables under trees, area for remote controlled cars, that's Freedom Park. You won't find swings and a play area, however on a Sunday this place is full of youngsters playing sports. Great place to play!

I often do dog agility at the park. The location is great, it rarely gets hot here because it's always nice and windy, and yet sunny. The grass is always nice, green and taken care of. Since I come here to do dog Agility, I wish the ground is flatter, but I mean this is just a regular neighborhood park so it's really good as far as locations for sports go.

This park has so much to offer we have gone here several times for multiple activities. We have enjoyed the outdoor remote control car racing track, the remote control off road track (we enjoyed this yesterday). Our kids have a blast being able to watch everyone hit the jumps and just have fun. We have all also seen the dog completions they have on the weekends. They do football practices in the afternoons and baseball. Our favorite is the the bmx the kids love watching everyone go out there and race. Seeing the passion that these kids have for this sport is amazing. If you haven't checked it out you should!

It's awesome here at the bmx track

      Freedom Park is AWESOME!
My first time here on a Sunday, to practice with my indo board, and there was plenty of life in the place. RC drivers and baseball/softball players were out in force.

I can't wait to come back and check out the BMX races sometime...

Only reason it's 4 stars are the restroom facilities.

#Indoboard balance training on the grass :) happy Sunday @indoboard

For those of you looking to do a "staycation" this summer, you might want to check out Freedom Park. (I hate that word, "staycation", but thought it appropriate for people looking for some cheap entertainment. ie. staying home and going to the park in the summer) Freedom Park is HUGE and it has a lot to offer for everyone. It's not just a park that caters to the usual park goer either. Sure it's got a kids playground, four lighted softball fields, a snack bar, huge fields of grass for AYSO soccer, horseshoe pits, a sand volleyball court, restrooms, a huge picnic area and even tennis courts, but it also has tracks for remote control cars (http://roadrunnersrc.com), a roller derby rink (www.camarillohockey.com) and a BMX Bike track (www.freedomparkbmx.com). BMX is an olympic sport this year you know.

The only negative I can think of is that the restrooms are pretty old looking and it's pretty far away from the businesses in Camarillo. About the only place to eat near there is the waypoint cafe (http://www.yelp.com/biz/waypoint-cafe-camarillo#hrid:lpcnwlRwZ_QTnYl0kyHv6w). Other than that, it's a great park.

      RC Car Tracks

Not very many parks have a space for RC cars. Happily Freedom park does. Unhappily I found out that I need some practice! Will be back.

      First to Review

Year round, AYSO makes this the field of choice when it comes to soccer games . You can see the little ones madly kicking up their heels at an attempt at the ball, with parents hootin' and hollerin' for them to kick the ball. I do even remember hearing a parent saying, "No, (name of child here), not that way!!" - Haha. Good times. My sister is around 13 and it was quite interesting to see how the girls around this age played compared to the older girls. Her team mates and opponents were still aggressive, but had an almost more dainty approach when it came to attacking for the ball. While the older girls looked like they were playing in MLS and totally going for side tackles and what not. It was fun hearing names of "Transformers", "Side-Kicks", and "Stompers" for team names. I will be back next season to watch my sister play again.

*During the 4th of July, they normally have a fireworks show here. You basically come early in the morning, spend all day to have a decent spot.

They also have small RC tracks towards the last driveway. Check it out.
