American Red Cross Classes
Upon successful completion of this class you will be certified as an American Red Cross Lifeguard with Title 22 (Lifeguard Cert, CPR/AED and First Aid, and California Title 22). The following prerequisites will be tested at the pool on the first day of class: 300 yard swim, tread water without the use of hands, retrieve a 10lb object from depth of 7+ feet, and other required skills. A $35 fee is due to the American Red Cross prior to starting the course. Instructor will contact you regarding the fee. View our Activity Guide for a current listing of classes.

CPR/AED/ First Aid Adult and Child
This course is designed to teach students to respond to breathing and cardiac emergencies in Adults, children, and infants and to use and AED. Standard First Aid will teach you the basics on how to deal with hot/cold emergencies, shock, stroke awareness, and injuries such as cuts, bruises, chemical burns, heat burns, and more. Junior Lifeguard Program
Ages 10+ $255
This dynamic three-week summer program provides participants with an introduction to Water Safety and Rescue Skills along with First Aid and CPR, in a fun and challenging environment. In addition, participants enjoy a variety of water and land activities designed to promote fitness, self-esteem and teamwork. All Participants receive a T-shirt. A one-time Book Fee of $15 applies. Classes will include videos, lectures, skills practice, games and physical activities keeping students engaged while having fun with new friends.
The Junior Lifeguard Program is held at Pleasant Valley Aquatic Center. Participants can be dropped off at 8:30am and be picked up at 12:30pm or extend their day for free by staying for the Recreational Swim program offered from 1-4pm.

Refrigeration is not offered at the Aquatic Center. Pack all belongings in a zipped duffle bag or backpack with your child’s name on the outside.
Students should not bring electronic devices or valuables to class. Pleasant Valley Recreation and Park District is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
