Camarill Youth Basketball Association

Recreation League Program

The Camarillo Youth Basketball Association (CYBA) is a seasonal “recreation” league that is made up of teams comprised of kids from Camarillo. The boy’s leagues are separated by grades 3 – 8 plus a high school league. The girl’s “junior league” is for grades 3 – 5 and a “senior” league for grades 6 – 8. The CYBA is a competitive recreation league with a regular 8 game season followed by a championship playoff. All registered players are placed on a recreation league team (there are no “tryouts” or “cuts”). Skill assessments for new players are required so that fair and balanced teams can be created. Games are on Saturdays and playing time requirements insure that every team member plays. Teams are given 1 hour of week-night gym time for practice.

Travel Program “DONS”

The CYBA, in conjunction with the Ventura County Youth Basketball Conference (VCYBC), offers a competitive, year-round, “travel” team program (generally one team per grade) for the best Camarillo talent. In season, these teams are part of the VCYBC and play teams from other cities in Ventura County. These teams may also participate in tournaments outside of the VCYBC at the discretion of the coach and team. DONS tryouts are in the fall (usually September/October) and are open to all registered CYBA players. Anyone not selected a DONS team is automatically placed on a recreation league team.
