Senior Programs

The Senior Center is currently closed due to COVID-19 restrictions and is currenlty only offering food distribution services.

Enjoy complimentary drop-in activities, weekly games and free or low-cost services with other mature adults. Activities are listed in alphabetical order below. Programs are located at the Senior Center (1605 E. Burnley Street in Camarillo), unless otherwise noted.

AARP Driver Safety 

Mature driving classes offer one-day refresher or two-day introductory courses.  
Two Day Introductory Course
October 21 & 22     12-5pm     Wednesday & Thursday 
One Day Refresher Course
December 16.      12-5pm    Wednesdays
Cost: $20 AARP Members/$25 Non-Members.

Art Group

Students should bring any type of medium they enjoy working with.

Band Practice

Come and enjoy listening to the Seniors of Note as they practice for upcoming events.

Blood Pressure Reading

A volunteer nurse will take blood pressure readings.

Bone Builders

This class is designed to fight osteoporosis, improve balance, and increase muscle strength and bone density.

Bridge Games

Duplicate Groups
These are ACBL sanctioned games and are director facilitated.

Social Group
The group’s intent is to facilitate a fun atmosphere where all levels of Bridge players can participate.  They play “Standard American” style.

Canasta Games

Canasta is a popular Rummy-like game for four players, playing in partnerships.

Classical Guitar Group

The Ventura Classical Guitar Society invites the public to join them for Jam Sessions and special guest performers.

Diabetes Info Clinic

A nurse from Livingston Nurse’s Association will present information about Type 2 Diabetes with emphasis on diet, medication, exercise, and blood sugar monitoring.

Exercise Morning Stretch

Participants perform a series of gentle rhythmic, aerobic exercises during this morning workout.  Everyone is encouraged to go at their own pace.

Food Distribution

No registration necessary, just drive up to the Senior Center building and wait in line curbside for our staff to come out to you. Please bring a bag that you would like us to fill with food for you. Food donated by Food Share and Grocery Outlet. One bag per household. While supplies last.

Grey Law

Grey Law is a private non-profit organization that provides free legal services for adults 60+ in Ventura County. Call Grey Law at (805) 658-2266 for an appointment.

Hand & Foot Card Games

This card game is played with partners and the goal is to get rid of cards in your hand (11 cards) and meld them with your foot hand (11 cards).

Hearts Card Group

Hearts, one of the most popular and enduring card games in the world, is an “evasion-type” trick-taking card game for four players. We are looking for more players!

HICAP Counseling

This is a free program provided by Ventura County Area Agency on Aging. Counselors provide information for health insurance, assist with claims and prescription drug problems. Appointments required. Call (805) 482-4881.

Hear about the latest economic news and learn about great investment strategies.

Low Vision Support Group

This is a free informational support group designed to provide assistance to those with any type of vision problem.

Like Rummy, this tile game involves skill, strategy, and a little bit of chance.

Nickels 3-13

This variation of Rummy has eleven rounds. The object is to form all the cards in your hand into combinations. Come learn the game and make new friends!

Pinochle

Pinochle is a trick and meld card game and the current group is welcoming new players to create another foursome table.

Two Brunswick pool tables are available daily for free play and matches.

Ukulele Group

Come play your small four-stringed Hawaiian guitar.  All levels welcome.

Walking Group

Walk your worries away. Did you know that walking just 30 minutes a day helps improve your digestion, immune system, sleep, mood, and creativity! Bring a friend or make new friends by joining us in walking laps on the flat ground around the park perimeter. Get your daily exercise in early. Once a month we will meet at a local Camarillo eatery for breakfast and socializing.
